Does determination begin when we are challenged? Or is it hidden deep inside us, silently waiting for a chance to show us what we really can do if we put our ‘determination’ to work?
There is an old saying, “Put your nose to the grindstone,” or in other words, get off your ____ and get busy!
I’m sure we all have heard one version or another of this some time in our life – more often than we care to remember.
When we are challenged it sends vibrations through our system, starting with our mind (it seems our mind always stays younger than our bodies). But then the thoughts go into our muscles and out our nervous system and then watch us go!
But as we get older, age tells a different story while our mind says, “Yes I can,” the body retaliates by letting you know it’s not what it used to be. At that point you still want to try. Then the thought comes to mind – “I’m not as young as I used to be.” After arguing with yourself you come to the great decision, “I’m gonna do it anyway!” And you do, patting yourself on the back for your accomplishment. Then you say to yourself, “I’ll never do that again!”
