The Storm

by Ruth

It was a pleasant day. The sun played “Hide and Seek” with us. A storm had been forecast but there wasn’t any sign of it on the horizon.

Later in the day the wind began to pick up, and then was really wild, tossing trees back and forth like little matchsticks. It was a full blown storm, with black skies, pouring sheets of rain, and thunder. Part of the storm would seem to let up, but then come back stronger than before.

Finally it did let up and we went out to see what damage there was, if any. Sure enough, there was a big limb torn off one of the trees. It was approximately eight inches in diameter and about eight to ten feet in length, with smaller branches along its sides – a really big, big limb. This gives you an idea of the furry of the storm.
