More than fifteen years ago, my husband Bill and I started a Book Group. After all these years it is still going strong. Oh yes, people have come and gone, but the hard core remains. Our group meets monthly from October through June. During each Sunday meeting, we have discussed an incredibly diverse group of books on topics from economics to religion, novels and short stories, plays and poetry. Although the book may not always be my cup of tea, the discussion is always fascinating, and, of course, the snacks delicious.
Our final meeting of the year is coming up this Sunday and, as in previous years, it is a “Grand Finale” – a pot-luck and a book discussion. Our members have diverse tastes – in books as well as food. So we all look forward, with more relish than usual, to our June meeting, ‘though, admittedly, I will miss both the discussion and the company this summer. Oh well, ‘tis true, absence does indeed make the heart grow fonder. And I know the “Grand Finale” will have a curtain call.
