This past weekend was special, very special indeed. ‘Twas my birthday, and my brother who hails from N.Y.C. surprised me and flew in for a visit. This was all the more special because he truly has a fear of flying – and overcame it – just for me. ‘Twas wonderful.
Then, to add riches upon riches, a former student and resident, who has always been both impressive in her intellect and humanity, and her dedication, came for a visit. She is now a pediatric cardiologist at the University of Wisconsin, and she, too, was merely in Tucson for the weekend. How special to be remembered by special former students.
But it doesn’t end there. My husband and my son’s godmother both endowed me with little special gifts that I will use for a long, long time – until they are consumed or worn out. Their thoughtfulness and caring were only topped by the long-distance birthday wishes of my children and grandchildren. What fun. Not many grandmothers are so specially blessed.
I have much to be thankful for!
