keeping time

By Kat

on time.
it takes time.
time to get serious.
time for….the ed sullivan show!
do you have the time?
do you have time?
putting in time.
jaaaanie, dinner time!
short-timer.
old-timer.
time gets away from us.
it is about time!
just in time.
time waits for no one.
out of time, or “I’m late, i’m late, for a very important date!”

this thing we call time — is it real? does it even exist? we just made it up, you know — so that we could keep track of it. we certainly seem to use a lot of it. rather like, um, toilet paper; we use a lot of that too. though i must say that tp is a bit of a necessity. time, on the other hand (would that be the minute hand or the second hand?), is a luxury, or so they say.

it doesn’t seem so luxurious to me, and if you have any doubt about that, just reread the first fifteen lines.
