Our Little Son (1943)

by LD Kennedy

You are as frail as a lovely flower
Whose fragrance graces our bower.
We lovingly tend you with care,
Trying to keep you always there.

If we prune and pamper this bloom,
Keep it in a bright sunny room,
Perhaps someday, you will really be
A deep-rooted and blooming tree.
