How Can It Be?

By Jim Kennedy

Seeing the same cactus

Seeing the same trees

Seeing the same rocks

Seeing the same bridges

Hearing the sound of rustling leaves

Hearing the sound of wind

Hearing the sound of bubbling water

Smelling the Wildflowers

Smelling the rain

Smelling a hint of perfume

After so many years, how can it be?

One response to “How Can It Be?

  1. An appreciation of life and a perfect example of symbiosis and understanding of Gaia. ‘Why is it that’ not all folks can appreciate the ways you do, Jim? If only this were so, peace on earth ‘would be’!

Thank you for writing this! It is the best poem I’ve read in a very long while.
