tinkling along the river
Squirrels popping up in cooking pots
surprising and surprised
Apple Tarts baked by my Tante
Josee, my second mother . . .

Cousins in Hula skirts
young dancers
costumes of green
Josee, the creator . .

Oom is angry
the old car is steaming
Josee and the girls
Playing “Authors”
on the high desert road.
“Julike, It will be all right!”

In French the word for rattlesnakes is related to “little bells.”
“Tante” means Aunt in the Dutch language.
“Oom” means Uncle in the Dutch language
