Bicas at 4 p.m.

By Michele

Bicas (Bicycle Inter-Community Art and Salvage) is an adventure for young and old alike!

Last Wednesday, July 1st, my two older grandsons and I loaded up our bikes in my Dad’s pickup and headed to Bicas. This is an adventure as Bicas is located in the basement of the 3-story Citizens’ Storage Building, downtown – 6th and Stone. What’s inside is a busy hub, filled with bicycle parts (all organized and separated), used, refurbished, bikes for sale, old bikes which would soon be parted out for usable parts, and bicycle art – made from used parts. The volunteer staff is composed of young men and women.

I would like to mention Bicus has an annual fund raising silent auction of art work using only bycycle parts. This years show had everything from a yard fountain to jewelry. We bid and won a gecko made of parts of the handle bar and pedal pieces

Bicus holds an annual silent art auction of items made exclusively from bicycle parts. This past event displayed items from yard fountains to jewelry to metal scuptures. We successfully bid on a gecko put together with parts of handlebars and pedal pieces.
