Sharper

by Elvira

How Sharper                                                  than a Serpent’s Tooth
is                                 the Tongue
It’s Barbs                     slice                             the Air;
Tentacles                    reaching                      the Heart
amid                            Torn Flesh.
Murmuring                 Sounds,
that                             can’t Be                       taken
BACK:
couched                      in Honey,

Covered,                     only the astute
can hear:
Words of Love
Spite                boiling,                                    as sickly sugar,
burning                       the head,
Entombing                  the Soul, as a Bitter Chill.

In the Morrow                                                            a Blank Slate
Comes.
– and –
Eyes.                            Closed                         water
on the Lashes,                                                as if a
final tear         escaped.
Body.                           Reposed.                     Smooth flesh,
as if there                   had Never been
Agony.

― 2 ―

“Ayudame”
pleading                      Eyes darker
than Satan’s                                                   Pit,

Stunned                      as NOTHING
ENTERED                     the lungs.

― 2 ―

Orbs                            to be transformed     to Ash;
Fertilizer                                                         for Live –
The TRUE TREE
sought                         by ancients
greeding                      for Immortality –
unsought.

DOME

― 3 ―

Soulful                                                            Wings
fly                                to the Puti’s Kingdom,
No                               Reconstituted             Body, here,
Naked
Ectoplasm                   Soaring                        to Some
Promised Land.

― 3 ―

Yet,
here below,
Hearts                         Broken,                       never Whole Again
hiding                          behind
Wooden Smiles,         singing                        Lying,
Song.
