Katherine, Revisited (Por Catalina de Aragon)

By Elvira

Would that                                          I, Katherine
Be.
Humble, Learned, Loyal;
Queen of heart
and mind
Giving              of herself
through                                   His Majesty’s
travesty           thrust his
Sword                                      into her soul.

Glorified —                  then                 left to
die
unattended                              in the cold.

Martyred                     for                   her Faith
Betrayed         by husband
denied                         her true Majesty
in life:
in death
Believing                                 in the LORD
to comfort pain
in after life

Why                 such a
“tragic figure?”
Through                                   Life:

Her soul
transcended                            the niggering
blade of
Pride

To                    Love                 jewels
is NO CRIME
The Crime                   is the pride
that overcomes
our humbleness

O LORD:
make me strong
as Job                                      replacing
Pain
with the healing
Balm of
YOU.
