This past Sunday was a special day. For over five years I have been confined, to my home and futon because of a painful, disabling neurological problem. I am no longer able to sit in a wheelchair! My husband, in concert with a company in Idaho, designed and constructed a wheelchair-bed, a reclining wheelchair. I have previously used it twice, for medical appointments.
Last weekend we used it for a special treat – a concert at Catalina United Methodist Church. It was simply wonderful to be out; more wonderful to be in a lovely church, and most wonderful to hear beautiful music, sung by the Arizona Reparatory Singers. The biggest thrill was seeing the happiness in my husband’s face, the sparkle in his eyes. And, although I was not up to staying more than an hour, for the full concert, ‘twas an afternoon that we will both cherish; an afternoon that we hope represents the first foray of many back in the outside world.
