Bicas (Bicycle Inter-Community Art and Salvage) is an adventure for young and old alike!
Last Wednesday, July 1st, my two older grandsons and I loaded up our bikes in my Dad’s pickup and headed to Bicas. This is an adventure as Bicas is located in the basement of the 3-story Citizens’ Storage Building, downtown – 6th and Stone. What’s inside is a busy hub, filled with bicycle parts (all organized and separated), used, refurbished, bikes for sale, old bikes which would soon be parted out for usable parts, and bicycle art – made from used parts. The volunteer staff is composed of young men and women.

Now THAT sounds like a classic old shop. I love those kinds of places that are small and unique and do one thing really well. There is a store like that in New York that sells typewriter ribbons. I replaced my Aunt’s reel to reel ribbon there. She couldn’t believe it. Not a single office supply store in Minneaplis where she lives had them.
Hope you went off for a family bike ride later
